Winwick is rural and unspoilt. Let's keep it that way.
Energy giant E.ON propose siting seven monster turbines in unspoilt countryside at Winwick Warren to the north east of the village of Winwick in north west Northamptonshire. The proposed site stretches across the parish boundary into Cold Ashby parish, and the turbines would be visible from virtually all neighbouring villages, as well as from as far afield as Coventry and beyond. We present information to everyone interested in opposing the proposal and protecting Winwick and its unique community: both specific information relating to this proposal and other material relating to wind farms in general. You may sit on the fence at present, or believe that green energy is the only route to a secure power supply for future generations - be prepared to change your mind when you have looked at these pages and the web links. There is startling evidence of deleterious effects to the health of people living too close to wind farms, and also that wind generation by turbine is not nearly as green as is suggested in the hype. There is a growing tide of opinion both in the United Kingdom and across the world ( see http://www.windaction.org) that this headlong rush into industrial wind generation is misguided. If we don't act now our green and pleasant land will be turned into the 21st century version of Blake's "dark satanic mills" and yet we will still have no co-ordinated realistic national energy policy to take us into the future. We aren't Luddites who deny the need for renewable power, we are all for it - in the right places and for the right reasons!
Not only Winwick is affected by a proposed windfarm, all of north-west Northants is under threat of being lost to a wind farm forest, but Winwick village is unique in terms of size, rural tranquility and community spirit. In fact one of the reasons E.ON see in favour of the Winwick Warren site is that Winwick is too small to mount a protest. Little do they know Winwick!
Appeal Hearing closed 26 April 2012.
Inspectors usually give their decision within 8 weeks.
June 2011: E.ON decide to go straight to appeal on the grounds of non-determination by DDC. DDC were unable to determine as E.On had failed to supply requested data.
May 2010: E.ON have submitted their planning application.
